Ida M Sydnor
Ida M. Sydnor, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Ida was born June 22, 1933 in Raleigh, W.Va. Her father, Hammond Smith, mother, Fannie Tucker and stepfather Rev. Fred Tucker, two children Clarence Arthur III and Jarrett preceded her in death. Ida is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Arthur Sydnor, Jr.; 12 children, 40 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grand children, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She was a bible scholar, a gospel choir director and avid missionary all of her life. Ida served the community in a variety of roles, always saving the children, as Founder and Executive Director of The Village Project, working with at risk youth for more than 35 years; she served as a Community Relations Representative in Governor Brown’s administration. She founded the ‘Black Sacramento Christian Club Organizers’ where computer technology and Christian values were taught to students in an after school program and served as President and Vice-president of the Sacramento Branch of the NAACP.
Funeral service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 3996 14th Avenue, Sacramento, Ca. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:00 am. The wake will be held on Tuesday from 4pm to -7pm at Morgan and Jones Funeral Home, 4200 Broadway, Sacramento phone (916) 452-4444.
